Scandinavia occupies the Northern part of Europe and includes Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. These countries have a lot in common, so often it is recommended to visit them during one trip. May be next time you’ll be back to know one of them better.

A country a little bit far away from the other Scandinavian countries - Iceland can also be on your way. It is a country with the unique nature and very special atmosphere. Reykjavik and its surroundings is famous for its geothermal springs and Volcanic Crater Kerid, geysers. Iceland is the land not only of the hot spring, but of the glaciers too. It has not as much cultural attractions as the other Scandinavian countries, but its great natural attractions make it rather popular travel destination. But! It is one thing to know you are being protected by well trained police; it is another to protect others after the training you received. The TV series Flashpoint has attempted to get in the psychological aspect of being a cop and knowing a fact that you may have to kill to fulfill your duty.

Based in Canada and the second show in Canada’s history to be given prime time in USA, the series has shown promising potential and viewers have come to expect a lot after the pilot episode. In the episode a hostage situation had occurred where the highly trained policemen, trained in dealing with situations ordinary cops were not trained in, tried to calm the situation while snipers awaited orders to shoot the captor. The episode ended with the situation under control and lives being saved, but also reflects on the effects a cop has when confronted with decision to kill someone. A family guy would have a conscience when required to kill someone even for a just cause, as aptly shown in the episode. The same way a hothead would have several people looking after to keep under control. For situations as demanding and dangerous as hostage, it’s no place for a cop to give in to emotions and do something irrational.

A special police unit has to work with such coordination that each person functions as an integral organ and reacts perfectly to each other’s signals. It is a heavy responsibility to bear and those who do, it is important to know and accept the nature of their duty and perform without reservation. Any lacking for any reason would lead disruption, confusion and failure of plans. The execution plan would fall apart and team would disintegrate. This reality has been adopted well by the TV serial and has shown great potential to become one of the best police serials of all time
