The life of Carlos Abadi
Carlos Abadi is the founder of Abadi and Co., a Wall Street investment firm. A consummate investment banker, he has been involved in debt restructuring services since 1985.
He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in July 1960 to Jewish couple Jose and Francoise Abadi. He studied at prestigious institutions in the city, including Universidad de Buenos Aires and the Lycee Franco-Argentin Jean Marmoz.
After procuring a degree in industrial engineering from the former, Carlos Abadi immigrated to the U.S. He then enrolled in the Johnson School of Business at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York for his MBA.
In 1991, he founded Abadi and Co., performing financial services for corporations, governments and banks. He made emerging economies like Latin America as the primary market base for his company’s services. Among other financial solutions, the company offers debt valuation programs and risk-reward evaluations.
In 2000, Carlos Abadi wrote a white paper commissioned by the United States Senate. Six years later, he and his company brokered the buyout of financial services firm Refco.
Carlos Abadi has since served on the board of Refco Litigation Trust. Other than that, he has served on The Core Club and 900 Fifth Avenue Corp.’s boards. Additionally, he has served on Roubini Global Economics Monitor’s advisory board, making him a ranking member of the world’s best economics-related Web site.
Carlos Abadi is married to Barbara, with whom he has two children. The family lives in New York City.
