THUS acquires C&W
In accordance with the information provided by recent telecommunications reports, it has been confirmed that THUS group will concur with their acquisition by Cable & Wireless. A Glasgow based communications agency, the THUS group currently manages the UK Demon Internet ISP. This new action follows the company’s earlier rejection of acquisition, due to the undervaluing of the preliminary offer of transaction, which was 165p per stock share. The rate implemented with the recent acquisition imposes a bid worth of up to 180p per share, presenting an approximate total of £330m in profits.
In an inquiry by theregister.co.uk, the C&W boss displays his excitement about the organizational fusion. In a statement by Richard Lapthorne, “Today’s offer represents a generous premium of 64 per cent to Thus’ share price before our approach and, we believe, is an attractive proposal for Thus shareholders which unlocks significant value.”
This movement presents an interesting development for the C&W operation, actively progresses their situation in the communications realm. The company vacated its earlier position in the broadband gamut, releasing its Bulldog consumer base with a sale to Tiscali. Currently, THUS employs over 1700 staff, posting its primary set of profits on March 2008.
With the supplementary consumer base which was endowed as part of the Bulldog possession, Tiscali has exhibited an immense progression in retail productivity. Because of the situation, Tiscali has been forced to make a decision regarding the sale, reaching finalization by the end of June.
